M I S S I O N S

Hat Yai, Thailand

Hat Yai is a strategic city in southern Thailand where education, language, and relationships open meaningful doors for the gospel. Through partnership with a local Christian language school, believers serve by teaching English and engaging students from across the region—creating natural opportunities for conversation, hospitality, and gospel witness in a diverse cultural setting.

WAYS TO SERVE
ESL + Student Ministry

Hat Yai is the largest city in Southern Thailand and a major center for education, commerce, and transportation, located near the Malaysian border. The region is religiously diverse, shaped primarily by Theravada Buddhism, with significant Muslim and Thai-Chinese communities and a very small Christian population. While the city is vibrant and highly relational, many residents have little to no exposure to biblical Christianity, and faith is often expressed through inherited religious tradition rather than personal belief.

Southern Thailand also faces ongoing economic pressure and social disruption, compounded in recent years by severe flooding and environmental challenges that have affected families, schools, and local infrastructure. These realities create both hardship and openness—particularly among students and young adults seeking education, language skills, and connection to the wider world.

Language learning plays a critical role in this context. Hat Yai’s position as a regional hub draws students from across Southern Thailand and neighboring countries who desire to learn English alongside local and regional languages. This demand provides a unique and culturally appropriate platform for long-term relationship-building and gospel engagement.

Local Church Partnership & Ministry Approach

Ministry focuses on long term relationships in a culturally appropriate way.

Because Hat Yai is a regional education hub, language learning creates natural opportunities to meet students and families, build trust, and open doors for spiritual conversations over time.

Teams can support local believers through English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, conversational English, tutoring, and mentoring—helping students grow in confidence while relationships deepen.

Alongside student ministry, teams strengthen the local Christian presence by encouraging and resourcing Christian educators and church leaders, praying with them, and supporting faithful long term discipleshipin a region with very limited exposure to the gospel.
