Kevin & Janice Buttram

Kevin and Janice served as career overseas missionaries for 27 years in the Pacific Islands (Samoa, Fiji, Hawaii) and Bangladesh. 

Kevin’s heart for missions grew through serving on mission teams in Canada, Scotland and South America. Janice grew up in Lebanon as a missionary kid and desired to serve as a missionary herself. As a new couple they began pursuing missions service in the South Pacific. On the field Janice’s core ministry was focused on caring for her family coupled with a large ministry of hospitality. She home-schooled their four sons in their early years, but flexed with the circumstances as needed. In the islands they were Involved in church planting, with Kevin teaching in a Bible institute and equipping local church leaders. In Dhaka, Bangladesh they served for a year at Grace International School in the aftermath of a terrorist attack near the campus.

Kevin & Janice have a heart to see missionary families thrive as they navigate the tension between calling and family. K&J returned from the field to help their parents in declining health and to help their sons transition back into the US culture as they entered adulthood. They are very thankful that, by the mercy of God, their sons and their families are following the Lord. They are delighted to be grandparents to six grandchildren with two more on the way.

They have mentored and sought to encourage younger brothers and sisters who sense God’s call into cross-cultural Christian service. In their church they find great joy serving as small group co-leaders, teaching third graders, hosting people in their home and serving the body in other ways. Kevin has a background in residential construction and has supported their family in more recent years as a handyman, project manager and in cabinet work.

Kevin and Janice are delighted with the opportunity to be involved with Co-Missions Global both at home and abroad in spreading the fame of Jesus Christ, to those who do not yet know and enjoy Him.
